"Linkbaiting?" SRSLY? 2011 Called & Wants Its Gimmick Back! Hits To This URL: 944

Gimmicks and tricks have never been the best tactics for online marketing.  Yes, there was a time when accumulating hundreds and thousands of links back to your website was very effective.  This was only because the search engine algorithms were flawed.

What really matters is that customers are buying from you, right?

If customers don't return to your website, what is its value?

If prospects don't find your website and enjoy its content, what is its value?

Again, links to your website from other web entities does reflect a "vote" in favor of you and your website; but, alone, they do not produce revenue - do they?  Content marketing is all about giving customers and prospects media they want to consume, media that will convert them into satisfied and proselytizing customers.

How many of those do you want?

"Obviously creating wonderful content is important for many reasons, none the least of which is to serve, empower, delight, engage and win over new and existing customers. Absent a foundational every day content strategy and tactics, a linkbait project, totally focused on one piece of monthly home run content and ONLY for the purpose of building links, seems pretty myopic."

How Video Plays a Crucial Role in the Rise of Content Marketing Hits To This URL: 754

Video should be a mainstay in every marketer's toolbox.  Not only is video one of the most compelling of all media; but, the search engines all favor video content wherever it's published online.

Remember television commercials?  For many small businesses, TV commercials may be too expensive.

Effective video can be remarkably affordable and publishing it can be inexpensive, too.  Bottomline, effective video sells.

Effective video tells your story in a more compelling way than any other media.  Video sells because more people can simply watch it and absorb your message; rather than having to concentrate and focus to understand.

What's keeping your from benefiting from video marketing?

"Video appeared on the scene so suddenly that marketers are still learning how to use it effectively. It's a black box. But it's time to crack it open."

NSA shares raw intelligence including Americans' data with Israel Hits To This URL: 748

"... an NSA spokesperson did not deny that personal data about Americans was included in raw intelligence data shared with the Israelis."

How does Israel deserve my personal information?  I'd argue that my own government does not deserve my personal information and that government not only gathers it, but gives it away for free!

'The Israelis were required to "destroy upon recognition" any communication "that is either to or from an official of the US government."' Of course, they will!  Why wouldn't the Israeli's, or anybody else, "destroy" information about US government and officials?  Perhaps, they don't know how much money they could get for such information on the open market?  O, yeah, their integrity and ethics, I guess?

Timeline of Edward Snowden's revelations Hits To This URL: 791

Isn't it ironic that NSA defenses offered in response to each individual story are quickly proven to be false by the next story?  We are asked to have faith in our government's "insider" knowledge, that they are doing what's best for us.

'Believe us,' they say, 'because we know what you need.  Support us with the blood of your children.  But, do not ask us to prove to you what the rest of the world cannot prove.  The information we have is too important to share with our citizens!  If we shared what we know with you, we would all be in considerably more danger!'

Only the truly ignorant and those people afraid to think for themselves would believe this claptrap.  We are westerners, trained for centuries in the scientific method.  Nothing in this world is accepted as truth without empirical evidence.  Otherwise, every Tom, Dick and Harry would be your medical doctor, your attorney and your airline pilot.

Watch. Think. Do!

How to foster compassion in children Hits To This URL: 618

Education reform is hardly only a matter of test scores.  Learning how to learn is a necessary skill in our fast paced world.  Getting the most out of relationships, whether personal or with the world at large, goes a long way toward achieving our dreams and making this world a better place for coming generations.  Compassion helps us understand other people and contributes to our outlook on life.

Whether or not you believe in karma doesn't change the smiles and loyalty returned from those you help.  But, can we "teach" compassion?  Can we give young people a reason to consider consideration of others?

"Psychologists have documented spontaneous helping behavior in 2-year-olds. And children seem able to identify with gerbils, cats and storybook waifs, creatures quite unlike themselves. But sadly, according to one study, children become less generous toward others as they grow older. So empathy can be learned and unlearned."

NSA Able to Foil Basic Safeguards of Privacy on Web Hits To This URL: 733

How can you conduct a secure transaction over the Internet?

The most important takeaway from this article is that, if the NSA can read my online bank transactions in real time, others can, too.

It's also important to note that this is not about brute force decryption, where NSA targets a specific encrypted file and allocates resources and time to decrypting it.

This is about leveraging builtin weaknesses in current encryption processes, acquiring private decryption keys, gaining access to computers before encryption and after decryption, etc. - all sorts of ways to read your information in real time.

So, there are many profound issues here, not the least of which is whether or not it is possible to conduct a secure transaction over the Internet?

"The risk is that when you build a back door into systems, you’re not the only one to exploit it," said Matthew D. Green, a cryptography researcher at Johns Hopkins University. "Those back doors could work against U.S. communications, too."

For whose "red line" will your children risk dying? Hits To This URL: 768

For whose "red line" will your children risk dying?

On Aug. 12, 2012, President Obama said, "We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus. That would change my equation."

For whose "red line" will your children risk dying?

No matter that we the people remain without corroborated and empirical evidence regarding the use of chemical weapons in Syria, the chest thumping clearly appears to further personal agendas of several politicians.

Why is it that the UN cannot corraborate Syrian chemical weapons?  UN inspectors are "boots on the ground" in the midst of the aftermath, not conjecturers in Washington, DC.

If our government wants our backing, our government ought to come forthright to us with indisputable facts.  What do you think about this?

Killing is killing Hits To This URL: 700

"Does it really make a difference whether a civilian is killed by poison gas or by drone missile or dull knife?"

How can we compare and prioritize different methods of killing?  Death by poison gas must be truly horrifying.  Is death by video game, joystick controlled drones really less horrifying?

Killing is killing.

Killing more people cannot be justified by humanitarian ends.  How many people did Jesus Christ kill?  How many people did Jesus order to be killed?  How many wars did Christ win?

Yes, how Christ-like are we?

Not to mention, if we're so certain that chemical weapons were used, why not share our evidence with the UN?  UN weapons experts are there, on the ground in the aftermath of whatever happened.  Why hasn't the UN found the same evidence?
If we publicly share our evidence, then all of our world's people and governments can join together in finding a solution.

As the Dalai Lama points out, "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Please, do not kill more people simply because somebody else killed people.  That is nonsense.

Who pays for Syria? Hits To This URL: 959

Do we have enough challenges here on our own soil in the United States of America?  Do we have so much "extra" money that financing a war with Syria makes financial sense?

O, yeah, "humanitarian" interests ... Under what circumstances does killing more people qualify as a legitimate means to humanitarian ends?

What would Jesus do under these circumstances?  How many wars did Jesus Christ win?  We claim to be "one nation under God" and the majority claim a Christian God.

When it comes to war, it seems to me that it's Obama: 5 - Jesus: 0

Yay! We win

UK destroyed Guardian HDDs Hits To This URL: 744

Isn't it ironic? Today, with the cloud and publicly available encryption, much of Snowden's "take" is probably partially included in the "big data" the NSA already has, hasn't the resources to sift through and find, and, therefore, doesn't even know they already have? Just as we say in security circles, the only safe computer is one unplugged and unavailable to any power source, the ONLY way to destroy all of his "take" is to destroy every computing device in the Universe, including those inside the NSA. Irony, indeed
